“The mobile screens are more than 50% of our revenue” – how LED trailers help drive business growth

Joe has been facing the challenges of the event industry since 1978. That’s when Indigo Productions was founded near Buffalo, and to this day, the company remains a leading rental provider in the region.
In 2006, Joe made a decision that set a new direction for his business — he invested in his first mobile LED screen. Today, he owns eight such trailers, five of which were manufactured by Screen-LED.
“It’s definitely more challenging than before,” says Joe.
Today’s event environment is constantly evolving. New technologies flood the market, and business owners must stay sharp, make wise decisions, and thoroughly evaluate whether a new investment is worth the risk.
Why is a mobile LED screen worth the investment?
Investing in mobile LED screens is not just about staying up to date — it’s also a smart way to optimize operational costs and reduce staffing needs. “I calculated all the man hours. I was saving all the man hours to load it in and load it all out. That used to take about 90 man hours. […] One person who brought this trailer. […] I used to say six hours versus 96.”
Instead of spending dozens of hours assembling trusses and screens, running the show, and packing everything up, it now takes just six hours — during which one person can deliver, set up, and operate the screen.
“That’s my favourite thing about this trailer,” Joe adds.
One investment, many events
The Indigo Productions fleet now includes five trailers from the Screen-LED brand, two of which — as Joe says — paid for themselves a long time ago.
At the beginning of 2025, three more units were added, each equipped with even larger LED displays measuring 23 by 13 feet.
“I calculated it that it would take us basically, if we just did the one event that I did the time study on, it would pay for itself in five years. Just doing that event alone. But we did many other events,” Joe explains.
Mobile LED Screens: more than just equipment
For Joe, mobile LED screens are more than just technology – they’re a strategic investment. They allow his business to respond faster, work smarter, and deliver professional results while optimizing internal resources. “We do a lot of shows with them, you know, we do also build screens, we do all different kinds, but that, the mobile screens are more than 50% of our revenue, as compared to the built screens that we do inside.” – Joe adds.
